SOB sexual offensive bill consultation meeting held in Mogadishu

 On Saturday 22 august 2020   Somali Women and Child Care Association (SWCCA) together with the Somalia women and children cluster opened two days consultation meeting for the Somali national SOB  Sexual offensive bill which is in the federal government parliament for the reading process. The bill has been in front the parliament over several months which has not been discussed or  made its normal readings. the Meeting is  participated members of the civil society, religious groups, scholars and MP member of the parliament Somalia

The federal government of Somalia  ministry of the human rights and women has  drafted the bill which most federal state passed  after consultations with the state parliaments and governments. The SOB is now in  reading in front of  the federal parliament of Somalia where the ministry of the women and human rights as well as the women empowerment and activist female led organizations unleash their anger against the articles and sub articles cleared from the draft bill

Somali Women and Child Care Association (SWCCA) with partnership the UNDP and UNSOM has managed to implement advocacy for the SOB  sexual offensive bill to pass the parliament as law which will serve nationwide Somali women and  girls safety  and protection from all kinds of VAW  the violence against women which is increasing in Somalia the last years

Members from the civil society urged to the Somalia federal government to  bring back the original draft bill prepared the ministry of the women. A bill passed consultation form the civil society, federal state and religious   scholars.

Members of the parliament thanked the Somali Women and Child Care Association (SWCCA) women activist groups and   told them  to bring back to the federal government parliament the demand of the women and to insure acceptable laws that can serve the national interest of Somalia

Somali Women and Child Care Association (SWCCA)  and the Somali Women and children cluster members asked all parts  to stand the advocacy for the SOB to be active law serving the dignity and rights of the Somalia women and girls. the consultation meeting will issue press statement to the federal misgovernment Somalia and the impalement
