Position Title: Intern – Procurement and Logistics

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Background Information
Working under the overall direction of the Senior Supply Chain Officer and under direct supervision of Supply Chain Officer, the intern will assist with the operational activities of the Common Services Unit. Tasks will include:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Support Procurement Assistant in establishing a database of list of suppliers and service providers under different categories;
- Assist the procurement staff members in retrieval, photocopying and scanning documents.
- Assist in filing all documents, reports, and procurement records, tenders, bids etc and make sure they are updated regularly.
- Assist in following up the document for signatories and update the procurement tracking sheet in a database.
- Follow-up on purchase orders status and keep client informed of estimated time of deliver or any changes that may affect or modify the pre-determined delivery conditions;
- Perform other related duties as may be required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree in Purchasing and Supplies Management and other related fields, zero years of experience.
Experience
- Able to carry out tasks with attention to detail and demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality;
- Required IOM functional competencies; effective communicator, successful negotiator, creative and analytical thinker, active learner and team player.
- Good computer knowledge in MS Office packages.
Languages
· Fluent in English and Somali
Eligibility and Selection
In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities;
b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or
c) are sponsored by governmental/non-governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor.
d) are either students approaching the end of their studies and preparing a thesis, or recently graduated, who have less than two years of relevant working experience.
