Somalia Disabled People Protest and Press Release

Groups  of disabled people came together in Mogadishu to make press realize the media about the problems faced the PWDs persons with disabilities in the country. This came after two month consultation meeting among the DPOs disabled people organization actors and leaders who found the increasing problem facing the disability people in the country the last months in this year 2019.

The press release was three point messages to send to the international community, Banadir local Authority and the federal government leaders to answer the complaints of the disability people in the country from collective actors violating national and international human rights protocol and the CRPD

The press statement

  1. The disabled people demand inquiry where about the national disability agency officially authorized and signed by the federal government and the president 31 December 2018 with presidential degree
  2. The  disabled people demand the implementation of the CRPD the Convention Rights Persons with disabilities which Somalia signed and joined member states. Jointly role from the civil society, international community and the government of Somalia
  3. The disabled people proof that they have no role and responsibility for the deadly suicide attach against the Banadir Local Authority headquarter on 24 july 2019 that caused the death and wounds of high profiles people

Jointly worked event voluntarily organized by the DPOs disabled people organization Mogadishu and  federal state of Hirshabele, Southwest Somalia and Juboland who managed to the event to day and Galamudug state is supposed to do the nest hours by tomorrow  or next tomorrow. 

Peaceful demonstration that proofed the disability people are peace loving and low abiding citizens who present their grievance and complaint peacefully. Unlikely  the current rumor in the country that PWDs are terrorist killers not safe to approached and cooperated under the pretext the deadly suicide attach against the Banadir Local Authority headquarter on 24 July 2019
