two days work shop for the disable people participation in the elections of the Parliament and presidential is held in Mogadishu. the workshop was held for 40 persons in the first day learning citizens rights, election, participation of the parliament and governmental institutions.
the parts has gained more information and knowledge about international Parliament and role of the disabled people. most of the participants express their desire to participate the government if they get opportunity. discrimination has been main obstacle preventing the disabled people participation governmental institutions.
the workshop is capacity building training for advocacy and awareness disabled people rights and role for the participation of the governmental institutions.
Mr. Said said this is an opportunity that we may move ward our rights to the participation of the government.
Mr. Mohamed Bolobolo said we should seek networks and forums that we may share daily update where we may exchanges updates the political and social.
Mr. Osman deaf man speaking sign language with translation said i am very happy to see mu colleagues to holding such this high event that will help achieve more. we have to make more other sessions to discuss this issue.
Mrs. Aisha said i really very much happy this event and thank the people and the organization organized it. this the way we can take part the government. all of us came from variety clans of Somalia. who don’t want to elect disabled persons MP. we should lobby for our role and speak the traditional leaders of the clans.
Mr. Foodey blind man said i have tried before to be and Mp and asked my clan they have accepted put financial and technical barriers has prevented me to make true may ambition.
the event was very intresting where PWDs persons with disabilties made inter active participation in the training and discussion where most of the who did not hear an Mp of disabled people existing in the world. some say if there are countries like Ugand that provide the PWDs persons with disabilities elected seats for disabled MP why not we try.
in the training the lesson were cross cutting that provided the trainees international role of the disabled people. international human rights articles and Somalia federal government constitution articles. after that some of the has demonstrated their desire to seek participation of the government institutions
