Commemoration ceremony International day of the persons with disabilities

SODEN Somali disability empowerment network has organized commemoration ceremony for the international persons with disabilities in Mogadishu at YSL hotel in Mogadishu where people form different groups of the society participated in the event. this project is funded by NORAD throuf SEUQE project and Enginer Salah Ministry of civil engineer who contributed the mobility tools distributed

Ministries, PWDs people with disabilities, members of their families, civil society and the Diaspora groups who take part the activities of the event and presented lectures and discussion about the rghts of the PWDs and role for the 2016

Mr. Mohamed Ali farah has opened the ceremony with preaf introduction of the 3 December and world people with disabilities and how they can be profit to the people and country if they are empowered participated policy and decision making

Mr. Yusuf sh Ali from SUB and albasir school said we are human being like you, we need access our role in the government and civilians. We have scholars more educated than some of the ministries in the cabinet now who can make change in the country policy, economic and security. We request participation from the decision making institutions

 

 

 

Discussion panel

Group of persons made discussion about the PWDs and DPOs role for the Somali government and the 2016 elections.

Mr. Nuh the ministry of the youth and sports answering the questions said i am really very much glad to sit with PWDs in this discussion panel and answer all their question honestly.

Sh Mohamed from SAB we thank for all participants and i can say yes and no for the answer of the ministry. Yes i am glad speaking to high person like the ministry of the youth and sports here. And not the role of the government for the PWDs is very law that is not supporting them well.

Mr. Abdullahi Hassan chairperson of HADF Horn Africa Disability forum said i thank to the all participants the PWDs, civil society, political parts, Diaspora group and ministers. For the answer of the ministry is we know the world there are 1 billion out of the 7 billion people in the world and in Somalia there are more than 1.8 million persons with disabilities. We can really invest the resources of these people to profit our community. For the Paralympic the Somali PWDs has historic in the world where Mr. Magan Tahir has become the Netherland champion of the table tennis. And if the PWDs are invested we may achieve from the international paralympic victory

Mss. Habso Haji Ilmi from the SSWC said it really very pleasure for me to participate like this panel and as matter of fact the people with disabilities are more talented than able people in some cases. The government role and international in Somalia is very law. We encourage the ministry not make unfulfilled promises like other ministries in the country. We can do more for them as civil society and more with government.

award was given Somali journalist who has organized event for the blind person competition and eye operation that has become successful  where some of the people screened  regained their sight again.

Mr. Mohamed Fikhi member of Daljir part who said i knew the government has failed to support the able people and to day i see even for the PWDs who are the people in really needs for support. We request your cooperation the part will launch meeting and awareness for the support PWDs. We can jointly lobby for the 2016 election with your voice and prayer.

Mr. Barud from the GSD global Somali Diaspora said i acknowledge to day that the PWds are more talented and good personality than able persons. They have physical, sight and communicational limitations and they were the first who came here it has reminded their worth.

The ministry of the civil engineering and housing Mr. Salah said we are happy to see what is going here. We request from our government and people to take part this work. We see PWDs awake seeking their rights day and night.

Mrs. Sahra Ali Smatar the ministry of female and human rights said we are happy to see what the PWDs are doing i know that Mr. Mohamed is advocating for the PWDs to get their rights.

Distribution for crutches and white cane for some of the disabled persons in the ceremony. The ceremony is closed with lavish lunch for all participants including the media workers
