Somalia Government ratified the CRPD

Somalia federal government president H.E Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo signed the CRPD the united nation convention rights persons with disabilities to be law that came with presidential sign which lead Somalia to be part of the international convention of the Persons with disabilities.

 The CPRD Convention  rights persons with disabilities is an international convention that protects and promotes the rights and the lives of the PWDs in the world equally with non disabled citizen.   Where member state will be responsible the fulfillment of the obligations of the articles in the convention

Somalia signed the CRPD October 2018,  passed the  federal government parliament 18 May 2019 and ratification of the  Somalia president H. E Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo which makes official law in Somalia.  

The PWDs Persons with Disabilities and Disabled People Organization thank to the government  for the active role the support of the PWDs and DPOs with law that will provide them protection and promotion in the community.

Mr. Abdullahi Hassan Hussein the Chairperson of the Somalia Disability Cluster speaking to the media said, we are very much happy to see our struggle for the rights PWDs and DPOs in the last two decades seems to be fruitful with  participation of  the federal government the ministry of the human rights, the prime minister, MPs and President. Although PWDs still feel discriminated in the national employment and political participation, we are happy the progress going
