on Thursday 3 May 2018 national water resource law public hearing is held in Mogadishu open for the people, members of the water industry in the country, civil society and federal state ministries and authorities for water management in the country. the even was public hearing broadcaster online in the social media and the national TV.
the water bill has passed reading in the Parliament the house of the people and submitted to the upper house for hearing that went weeks ago. the bill is going to be law in the next month. and this public hearing will give chance the main stakeholder of the groups concerning the law. the people who will be the beneficiary of the law. and this public hearing is aimed to collected the contribution of the all stakeholders the civil society, water industry, federal states and the federal government
there has been contentious points raised the federal state has made question for the water management authority and agency that will deal Somalia national water, the members of the water industry dealers raised questions of the water price, taxation, licence and the rights of the citizens for water ( the service providers may not cut water supply to the citizens unable to pay the fee)
the lawyer has raised the questions about the law, the rights of water dealers for their business, the right to appeal for water management authority 60 days which is opposite of national federal government appealing law for 30 days.
the water expertise proposed the cooperation of the Water research institute working under Mogadishu University and expertise proposed insure the quality control system for the drinking water and irrigation in the country for human safety.
