high organized celebration for the international victim assistance day is held in Mogadishu participated by the DPOs disabled people organizations, PWDs people with disabilities and member of their families and service providers in somalia. the event was great day for the victims and survivors in somalia which they share more with other people.
HADF horn Africa disability forum is network with largest DPOs and service providers institutions member that is providing in the country care, shelter, rehabilitation and protection for the PWDs people with disabilities in general including the victims and survivors who member of their beneficiaries
HADF network has organized this event to honor the the victim and survivors a day they may share their past and future with colleagues. some victim in the ceremony complained lack support and cooperation from the international donors and VA international focal piont UNMAS which has been claiming the intervention of the VA works in the country.
Female persons speaking to the international community and governemnt said we are very sorry that we hear from the media there are proejcts funded to the VA victim assistants in somalia which are only in a words. we are requesting from international agencies to provide us the right support we are entitled with UNMAS international mandates.
Mr. Osman speaking behalf of deaf people said there are hundreds persons made deaf and deaf blind by the ERW and landmines in somalia which are conman every where in the country left in the civil wars hidden in the sand. we reqeat from the governemnt, internatioanal community and UNMAS to take care of these people as the world mandated you.
Mr. Ali victim lost hands and sight landmine at the age 5 years in Hiran regions said i have been munitoring the work of the VA as international from the media and website where i have found they have great rights, repect and role in their communities as well as local and international support. unfortunately in somalia we have nor intervention from the interntational community, donors and UNMAS focal piont.
Mr. Abdullahi the chairperson of the HADF . it is not the first time to mark the 4 April in somalia this years, the DPOs has been working as individual event. fortunately today its different are more important than all. where all DPOs member of the HADF has made their contribution to organize the ceremony in one single work.
in our press words of this events we say, international VA victim assistance mandate and regulations should be maintained in somalia, the VA international focal point to should look-back its discriminating work against the DPOs and VA support interventions should be organized as soon as possible with consultation of the DPOs and PWDs a key figure of the VA international stakeholders
