\n\u201cThe treasure was actually found a month ago,\u201d said Brent Brisben of 1715 Fleet \u2014 Queens Jewels LLC. Keeping the news under wraps was \u201cparticularly hard for the family that found it. They\u2019ve been beside themselves.\u201d

\n\u2022 51 gold coins
\n\u2022 40 feet of ornate gold chain
\n\u2022 A single coin called a Royal made for the king of Spain, Phillip V, a news release states. Only a few are known to exist, and the coin \u2014 nicknamed \u201cTricentennial Royal\u201d \u2014 is dated 1715. Brisben said the extremely rare silver-dollar-sized coin is worth \u201cprobably around half a million dollars itself.\u201d
\nThe Schmitt family struck gold \u201cin September 2013 after finding 50 feet of gold chain and an amazing gold filigree pyx in 2014,\u201d the news release states. They are subcontractors to 1715 Fleet \u2014 Queens Jewels and found the most recent treasure in shallow waters off Fort Pierce.
