{"id":2940,"date":"2016-11-29T21:22:07","date_gmt":"2016-11-29T18:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/somalionlinemedia.com\/?p=2940"},"modified":"2016-11-29T21:22:07","modified_gmt":"2016-11-29T18:22:07","slug":"eat-one-egg-a-day-to-fend-off-a-stroke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/faafitv.com\/?p=2940","title":{"rendered":"Eat one egg a day to fend off a stroke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"http:\/\/somalionlinemedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/egg-for-health.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2941\" src=\"http:\/\/somalionlinemedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/egg-for-health-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"egg-for-health\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-ae\/foodanddrink\/foodculture\/eat-one-egg-a-day-to-fend-off-a-stroke\/ar-AAjP039\">SOURCE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>No food has had a turnaround like eggs: once cardiovascular and cholesterol demons, they\u2019re now considered an essential, regular part of a healthy diet.<\/p>\n<p>That attitude is reinforced by a new study published in the\u00a0<em>Journal of the American College of Nutrition<\/em>, which suggests eggs lower your risk of having a stroke.<\/p>\n<p>The research, which analysed a number of studies undertaken between 1982 and 2015, found that eating one egg per day is associated with a 12 percent reduction in stroke risk.<\/p>\n<p>Strokes are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/how-australians-die-cause-1-heart-diseases-and-stroke-57423\">one of the top killers in Australia<\/a>, so lowering the chances of having one is a big deal.<\/p>\n<p>So why does eating eggs fend off strokes? Dominik Alexander, a doctor from the EpidStat Institute in Michigan and the study\u2019s principal investigator, said more research is needed to answer that question \u2014 though he does have some theories.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Eggs do have many positive nutritional attributes, including antioxidants, which have been shown to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation,\u201d he said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurekalert.org\/pub_releases\/2016-11\/enc-oep102816.php\">in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are also an excellent source of protein, which has been related to lower blood pressure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His team\u2019s research also confirmed there\u2019s no link between coronary heart disease and egg consumption, which squares with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eatforhealth.gov.au\/sites\/default\/files\/files\/the_guidelines\/n55_australian_dietary_guidelines.pdf\">the Australian Dietary Guidelines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last month eggs scored yet another point in their favour from Australian research, which found that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/coach.nine.com.au\/2016\/10\/14\/10\/25\/csiro-says-eating-eggs-every-day-is-okay\">Aussies who eat more of them generally have better diets overall<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Eggs are an extremely nutritious wholefood \u2013 a great choice in a healthy and balanced daily diet,\u201d said CSIRO professor Manny Noakes in October.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Alexander\u2019s research was partially funded by the American Egg Board, which uses funds from egg farmers for promotion and research.<\/p>\n<p>The Heart Foundation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartfoundation.org.au\/healthy-eating\/food-and-nutrition\/protein-foods\/eggs\">currently recommends<\/a>\u00a0that people consume no more than six eggs a week \u2013 which can be broken down into three meals of two eggs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SOURCE No food has had a turnaround like eggs: once cardiovascular and cholesterol demons, they\u2019re now considered an essential, regular part of a healthy diet.
